China observes its 47th National Tree Planting Day on March 12. Chinese citizens voluntarily planted approximately 78.1 billion trees from 1982 to 2024 across the vast country. Over the past two decades, China's newly added vegetation reached about one quarter of the global total increase, ranking first worldwide, official data showed.
